The Process Of Editing

Here are a few screen shots of our editing process, at this stage we have the introduction, which you see below. We fit a large group of shots in to the first 17 seconds of our video. This section works really well so far and the use of strobe lighting really brings the effect we were going for.

This screen shot of our verse footage shows a nice over the shoulder shot, we felt during our shoot that these shots were working it very well. However on viewing the edited footage, we felt that the footage was not good enough to fill the whole verse. Our teacher told us on her first view that the footage was too static and although some of our shots were really nice, as a whole it was not exciting enough. Therefore we have rearranged filming again so that we can get some more animated shots. The editing is quite swift, I found the process quite tough at first but after getting used to using finalcut I managed to get to grips with it. We shared the task of editing between the four of us, with each of us taking a section of the song to edit.

First Response

After talking through our idea and avid discussions, we put forward the idea to our tutor. The presentation went well and was well taken by our tutor, the main response was that it had lots of potential as an idea. This really pleased us and we were thrilled to be able carry on developing it. The one thing that she made apparent to us was to really consider our setting, due to the fact that if it was the wrong place it would look shabby and not up to the standard we could really achieve. Now that has been made clear we have further discussed our options for setting, we felt that an average house would look to unprofessional and cause it to seem like the "convenient" and "cop-out" option. We got some options for houses that we thought we might use. [insert photo here and talk]

We spoke about our next steps, we have decided to properly think out how we will film the rest of our video, with all the various ideas we have thought about and put them down into one storyboard. Which will then most probably be made into an animatic.
